Cycle Indicators

Hilbert Transform - Sine Wave Indicator (HT_SINE)

Hilbert Transform - SineWave

Deep Dive

Everything You Need to Know

Under the Hood

How It Works

HT_SINE uses Hilbert Transform to generate two sine wave outputs - sine and lead sine (leading by 45°) - that oscillate with the market's dominant cycle. Developed by John Ehlers, this indicator converts the complex phase analysis from HT_PHASOR into tradeable oscillating signals that range approximately from -1 to +1. The lead sine provides early warning of turning points. When the sine wave is at extremes (+1 or -1), the market is at a cyclical turning point. Crossovers between sine and lead sine generate precise timing signals.

In Practice

How Traders Use It

Cryptocurrency traders use HT_SINE for actionable buy/sell signals based on dominant cycle oscillations. When lead sine crosses above sine, it generates a buy signal; crosses below generate sells. The indicator works best in cyclical, range-bound markets and can produce whipsaws in strong trends. HT_SINE is exceptionally powerful combined with HT_TRENDMODE (to trade only during cycle mode, not trend mode) or with traditional indicators like RSI for confirmation. It's popular among swing traders and cycle-focused algorithmic systems seeking precise entry/exit timing.

Highlights

HT_SINE at a Glance

Generates two sine waves from dominant market cycle
Lead sine leads regular sine by 45 degrees
Values oscillate approximately between -1 and +1
Crossovers between sine and lead sine generate signals
Lead sine crossing above sine = buy signal
Extreme values (+1, -1) indicate cycle turning points
Best in cyclical markets, struggles in strong trends
Ideal combined with HT_TRENDMODE for regime filtering
Popular among swing traders and cycle-based algorithms
