FAQs

Most frequently asked questions

Here are the most frequently asked questions you may check before getting started

Which cryptocurrency exchanges does Cryptorobot.ai support?

Cryptorobot.ai supports leading exchanges including Binance, Bybit, Kraken, and many more. You can connect multiple exchanges simultaneously and run independent bots on each.

Do I need to know how to code to use Cryptorobot.ai?

No coding is required. Cryptorobot.ai is a fully no-code platform. You can build, backtest, optimise, and deploy automated trading strategies entirely through the visual interface.

Is my money safe? Does Cryptorobot.ai hold my funds?

Cryptorobot.ai is non-custodial — your funds never leave your exchange account. We only use API keys with trade permissions; withdrawal access is never required. API keys are stored encrypted with AES-256.

What is backtesting and how does it work?

Backtesting simulates your strategy against historical market data to measure performance before going live. Cryptorobot.ai runs backtests on cloud HPC infrastructure, delivering results in seconds instead of hours.

What is the difference between the Paper and Live plans?

Both plans are billed monthly and start with a 7-day free trial. Paper ($9.99/month) includes 3 paper-trading bots and 20 backtests a month. Live ($19.99/month) adds live trading with 1 live bot plus 5 paper bots, 200 backtests a month, hyperopt, and research. Extra bots start at $2.99/month.

Can I run multiple bots at the same time?

Yes. Cryptorobot.ai supports running multiple bots simultaneously across different exchanges, trading pairs, and strategies — all managed from a single dashboard.

What is hyperoptimisation (hyperopt)?

Hyperopt is an automated parameter tuning process that finds the optimal settings for your trading strategy. Cryptorobot.ai runs hyperopt on cloud HPC infrastructure, testing thousands of parameter combinations far faster than a local machine.

Welcome

What is CryptoRobot?

CryptoRobot is an automated cryptocurrency trading platform that lets you build, backtest, and deploy trading strategies using technical indicators. You connect your exchange account via API keys and the platform executes trades on your behalf based on the rules you define.

You can start with simulated funds to practice before going live with real money.

Do I need to deposit money to start?

No, you do not need to deposit money to start. You can begin using our platform with simulated money (dry-run mode) to become familiar with it and improve your strategy.

Instead of depositing money directly with us, you connect your preferred exchange account using API keys and manage all the funds from there. Your funds always stay on your exchange.

Is it safe to connect my exchange here?

Yes, we take the security of our platform and our users' information very seriously. We use industry-standard protocols such as encryption to protect API keys both in transit and at rest.

Importantly, we explicitly block any API keys that have withdrawal permissions enabled. This means the platform can read market data and execute trades, but can never move funds out of your exchange account.

What is paper trading / dry-run mode?

Paper trading (also called dry-run mode) lets you test your strategies with simulated funds — no real money is at risk. When you create a trader bot in dry-run mode, you set a virtual wallet balance (e.g., $1,000 USDT) and the bot simulates trades against live market prices.

This is a great way to validate a strategy before committing real capital. Every plan includes paper trading, starting with the Paper plan at $9.99/month.

What can I do on the dashboard?

The dashboard is your central overview showing real-time profit and loss, wallet balances, open and closed trades, daily performance charts, and market insights.

From the dashboard you can also monitor your active trading bots and access quick shortcuts to your strategies and exchanges.

Most asked

Is there a free plan?

No, but new accounts start with a 7-day free trial. You add a card to start it and nothing is charged until day 7; if you cancel before then, you pay nothing.

The Paper plan ($9.99/month) lets you run trading bots in simulated (dry-run) mode. When you are ready to trade with real money or need more resources, you can move to the Live plan ($19.99/month). Visit the Subscription page for current pricing and plan details.

What are the benefits of Live vs Paper?

Live ($19.99/month) unlocks real money trading with 1 live bot plus 5 dry-run bots, 200 backtests a month, hyperopt (10 runs a month), and research.

The Paper plan ($9.99/month) is limited to simulated trading, with 3 dry-run bots and 20 backtests a month. You can add dry-run bots to either plan for $2.99/month each, and live bots to Live for $7.99/month each. Visit the Subscription page to see the full feature comparison.

Which exchanges are supported?

We support a growing list of major cryptocurrency exchanges. Visit the Exchanges page inside the app to see the full list of currently available exchanges.

You can connect multiple exchange accounts and manage them all from one dashboard.

What trading pairs can I trade?

You can trade any pair available on your connected exchange. Pairs are loaded dynamically — for example on Binance you will see hundreds of pairs like BTC/USDT, ETH/USDT, BNB/USDT, and more.

You manage a whitelist (pairs your bot is allowed to trade) and an optional blacklist (pairs to exclude) for each exchange connection.

Strategies

What is a trading strategy?

A trading strategy is a set of rules that define when to buy and sell a cryptocurrency. In CryptoRobot, a strategy consists of:

Indicators — technical analysis tools like RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, and moving averages that analyze price data.
Buy Rules — conditions that must be met to open a trade (e.g., “RSI crosses below 30”).
Sell Rules — conditions that trigger closing a trade.
Risk Management — stoploss, trailing stop, and minimum ROI targets to protect your capital.

What is an indicator?

A technical indicator is a mathematical calculation based on a cryptocurrency's historical price and/or volume data. Indicators help predict future price movements and identify trading opportunities.

CryptoRobot supports a wide range of technical indicators including RSI (Relative Strength Index), MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence), Bollinger Bands, EMA/SMA (Exponential/Simple Moving Averages), and many more. You can combine multiple indicators in your buy and sell rules using AND/OR logic.

What is backtesting?

Backtesting lets you run your strategy against real historical market data to see how it would have performed in the past. You can configure the date range, starting wallet balance, maximum number of open trades, and the trading pairs to test.

After a backtest completes, you get a detailed report showing total profit/loss, win rate, drawdown, trade count, and per-trade performance. This helps you refine your strategy before risking real money.

What is Hyperopt?

Hyperopt (hyperparameter optimization) is an advanced feature that automatically tests thousands of variations of your strategy parameters to find the optimal configuration.

You configure how many epochs (iterations) to run and the platform will test different indicator settings, stoploss values, ROI targets, and other parameters. Hyperopt runs on dedicated cloud compute, with higher-tier plans receiving more processing power for faster optimization runs.

What is stoploss and trailing stop?

Stoploss automatically closes a trade when its loss reaches a set percentage (e.g., -10%), limiting your downside risk.

Trailing Stop moves the stoploss upward as the trade becomes profitable. For example, once a trade reaches +5% profit, the trailing stop might follow at 3% below the peak. This lets you lock in gains while still giving the trade room to grow.

You can configure both in the strategy editor along with ROI targets that close trades after reaching specific profit levels at specific time intervals.

Can I use strategy templates?

Yes! CryptoRobot provides pre-built strategy templates like the BBandRSI strategy that combine Bollinger Bands with RSI for a ready-to-use setup. Templates give you a strong starting point that you can customize or use as-is.

You can also explore community-shared templates and agent-generated strategies in the Extensions marketplace.

Exchanges

How do I connect my exchange?

Go to the Exchanges page and click "Add". Select your exchange from the available list, then enter your API Key and API Secret.

Make sure to only grant trading and market data permissions — never enable withdrawal permissions. Once connected, your exchange balances and available trading pairs will load automatically.

What API permissions do I need?

You need to enable reading market data and spot trading permissions on your exchange API key.

Important: Do NOT enable withdrawal permissions. Our platform explicitly rejects API keys with withdrawal access. This protects your funds — the platform can place and manage trades, but can never move money out of your exchange account.

What is the whitelist and blacklist?

The whitelist defines which trading pairs your bot is allowed to trade (e.g., BTC/USDT, ETH/USDT). Only whitelisted pairs will be considered for trades.

The blacklist excludes specific pairs even if they match other criteria. This is useful for filtering out low-liquidity or volatile tokens you want to avoid.

How do I download historical data?

On the Exchanges page, select an exchange and go to the data download section. Choose the trading pairs you want data for, select a timeframe (1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, etc.), and set the date range.

Historical OHLCV (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume) data is used for backtesting your strategies. The more historical data you have, the more thorough your backtests will be.

Billing & Plans

What plans are available?

Paper ($9.99/month) — Simulated (dry-run) trading with 3 dry-run bots and 20 backtests a month.

Live ($19.99/month) — Real money trading with 1 live bot plus 5 dry-run bots, 200 backtests a month, hyperopt (10 runs a month), and research.

Both plans are billed monthly and start with a 7-day free trial. Extra dry-run bots are $2.99/month on either plan, and extra live bots $7.99/month on Live. Visit the Subscription page for current pricing and a full feature comparison.

How does the 7-day free trial work?

When you choose the Paper or Live plan, you add a payment method and start a 7-day trial at no charge. During the trial you can explore the platform, connect exchanges, and configure bots; bots, backtests, and hyperopt start when your plan starts. If you cancel before the 7 days are up, you will not be charged. The trial is once per account: if you have had a trial or a plan before, your plan starts and is charged the day you choose it.

After the trial ends, your subscription will automatically continue at the selected plan price unless you cancel. Starting your plan early, changing plans, or adding extra bots during the trial ends the trial and starts billing.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly billing?

No. Plans are billed monthly only, and you can change or cancel your plan at any time from the subscription settings.

Existing yearly subscribers keep their current billing. Visit the Subscription page to see current rates for each plan.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing section in your account settings. Cancelling ends your plan right away: your bots stop running and nothing new starts.

Your strategies, exchange connections, and history stay saved, so you can start a plan again later and pick up where you left off.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through our payment provider. Mobile app users can also subscribe through in-app purchases on iOS and Android.
